June 29, 2015 The Great White North

I've been suffering from PMS (parked motorcycle syndrome) for the past 7 months. The bike has been parked due to my work schedule which has taken me to Kitimat, Smithers and Prince Rupert, in northern British Columbia. Diana and I had a new house built and moved in on Good Friday. After living out of suitcases or panniers for 17 months it feels awesome to have a home and reconnect with our friends on the Island.

I originally wanted to ride the Dempster Highway to Inuvik, NWT before we traveled to South America but couldn't due to work commitments. This June I'll make the trip to Inuvik, the furthest north you can drive in Canada. The Dempster Highway is significant to me as my father and cousin Gary spent a number of years working on it during it's construction in the 1970's. Diana has decided not to participate in this leg of the adventure. She grew up in the northern Alberta and has no desire to fend off mosquito's and horse flies which will be extremely annoying at this time of year. Our son Kirk will be making his first adventure ride on a Kawasaki KLR650.
